Steroid withdrawal effects

Medical uses of steroids are for some forms of anemia and breast cancers, endometriosis, osteoporosis and a swelling disorder called hereditary angiodema. That’s all for its medical use and nothing for cosmetic use. Its use as for performance and body building will be more as a side effect when used for medical purposes.

So, there is nothing really suggested when it comes to using steroids for sale athletes or body building. There are even psychological side effects when a user withdraws from steroids. Depression is one side effect that could ruin a user’s life while on withdrawal. It is actually the reverse of aggressiveness and feeling of invincibility while steroid us is being abused.

Effects on men and women

For men, it can cause development of female characteristics with excess testosterone that is converted to the female hormone estrogen. Men who experience baldness, breast and prostate enlargement, sterility, testicular atrophy and sexual dysfunction are affected by the abuse of steroids.  On the other hand, excess testosterone in females gives them the opposite effect, like deepening of the voice, hair growth on other parts of the body, reduction of breasts, baldness, sexual dysfunction, genital swelling and sterility.

There were some instances in the Olympics where a female in track and field was suspected to be a male. They had more characteristic of a man than a woman. There were no reports however if they were using or abusing steroids.

During the withdrawal phase, a problem related to the psychological effects occurs when a user stops taking steroids.  Depression is the common effect on steroid users withdrawing from it. The feeling of elation brought on by steroids is reversed making them depressed.  A complete reversal of the positive feelings occurs when withdrawing from steroids. A review mentions that there have been cases where violent behavior and moments of rage occur after withdrawal.
